Funky&Free

 Art After Dark

In this economy, everyone is trying to save money including me. Keeping a tight watch on finances down to the pennies can be hard. Especially when you hear about a great event, or party happening. So, I have set out on a mission to find fun events around the city to curve my appetite for spending those discretionary funds.

This past Friday, I got funky for free at Art After Dark at the Cincinnati Art Museum. From 5 to 9 p.m. you can enjoy the Cincinnati Art Museum along with music, drinks, and appetizers. The event is free, however, parking is $4, and there is a cash bar, and appetizers for sale. The drinks and appetizers are reasonably priced ranging from $4-6. Each month there is a different musical guest, usually acoustic or jazz arrangements. This month featured Tana Matz, who played acoustic Top 40 melodies in the great hall for the evening.

Overall, the event is mellow. It is a great choice for a first date, couples, and or groups. This is a great chance to enjoy the museum without large crowds, or large groups of children. Also, great for the person who is not able to enjoy the museum until after regular operational hours. A slower pace to really engage and enjoy the museum before a night out on the town.
